Learn and Improve

The Sportif Winter Camp Coaching Team is committed to improving each judokas technical skills and to providing quality randori opportunities.

Each mat session will include high intensity randori and test contests designed to bring out the best in everyone. Then the coaching team’s focus switches from sparring to technical development, as they deliver practical, effective technical sessions.

On the hill

The venue chosen for this camp is unique and second to none in terms of outdoor training opportunities. The Crags Centre, where the training is based is built on the edge of the Queens Park in Edinburgh, 650 acres of wild hill and mountain terrain built around Arthurs Seat, a now dormant volcano.

Although young athletes will be tested during their conditioning workouts the focus is very much on working smart, as well as working hard. No caveman training here, smart workouts for smart athletes.

Explore Edinburgh

Edinburgh is a fantastic City, take the opportunity to explore with your team members in the evening. The Crags Centre is in the Heart of the Old City a perfect spring board for exploring the Castle, The Royal Mile and Holyrood Palace.

Judo is a fantastic sport for boys and girls and Sportif Judo is a great place to start. I started as a beginner with Sportif when I was seven years old, in a small village hall club. Little did I know 10 years later I would become a fulltime judo athlete representing Scotland and Great Britain at tournaments around the World. Sportif is my judo family

I have seen my son come on in so many ways in the 5 years he has been doing Judo. He is 11 yrs old now and his personal as well as sporting development have been phenomenal, as is the case with all the other players both male and female that attend these sessions. I coach rugby at P7 but this is another level again in comparison. It promotes discipline and respect and the Sportif coaches strive to get the best out of every individual child. I would thoroughly recommend!!

Judo is much more than an Olympic sport or an art of self-defence. Judo is one of the best ways to shape positive character and physical form for a lifetime. I have worked with and strongly recommend the Sportif Judo program for children, young adults and adults looking for the very best training through Judo with ambitions to succeed in life

We have three girls at Sportif Judo Darcy aged 10, Ellie aged 8 and Quinn aged 5. All three girls really enjoy judo and love going to the club. As parents we can see that Sportif is a special club, there is a fantastic team spirit, with a very high ratio of girls in the club. The older players always make time for the younger players and are the perfect role models Our experience at Sportif Judo has been very positive.

Bryony Hawthorne Darcy, Ellie & Quinn’s Mum

Sportif judo has not only provided consistent excellence in judo coaching, but they have managed to take individual athletes and create a big team with congruent values of respect, integrity and honour. This is invaluable for success both on and off the judo mat.
